For Alibaba’s Singles Day shopping event, more than 250,000 brands participated this year.

Alibaba’s big Singles Day shopping event hauled in more than $74 billion for the e-commerce giant this year, 26% more than last year and keeping pace with sales growth in previous years.

There’s one big difference, though. This time, the bargains were spread out, starting Nov. 1 and ending Wednesday.

It’s still impressive considering the sheer size of the event, which Alibaba Group Holding (ticker: BABA) started in 2009 to coordinate with a national holiday celebrating single people….
